Go Green With Eco Gifts

What do you get the person who has everything… and by everything I mean you have no idea what they actually need. I find shopping for my friends and family to be a little tricky so I normally but them something i know i’d be happy to receive – like something shiny or fitness related, but this year, sustainable and ethical is also a prerequisite.

Check out my top suggestions below for anyone who’s looking for something a little different this year:

Veja at Hautletic - AED475
Veja
Right now I love products that are made differently and the VEJA sneaker project is made with a really positive process. Using organic fairly traded cotton for the canvas of the shoes, wild and fairly traded rubber for the soles, they also use solely recycled plastic bottles to create their unique technological fabric! Made in Brazil, these beauties can be bought in Dubai’s favourite athleisure hub, Hautletic.

Giant Panda - Wildwood
Wildwood Sunglasses
These WildWood frames are without a doubt the perfect pair for the beach and all manner of outdoor adventures in the U.A.E.. Based in Dubai, these wooden sunglasses aren’t just for show, as they are fully U.V. protected. They’re on an eco-friendly fashion mission too, having recently teamed up with The Nature Conservancy and plant a trees through their ‘Plant a Billion’ campaign for every product they sell. 1 sale = 1 planted tree…

Wildbody Active
Wild Body Active
These gorgeous mats from Wild Body Active are keeping me energised. Not only are they gorgeous to look at, their aim is to produce eco-friendly mats that are both unique in design and super functional too. Made from premium microfibres, the mat will absorb sweat making for a supremely grippy surface suitable. They are all 100% recyclable, biodegradable and free from PVC, chlorine, phthalates, latex, silicone and all other toxic nasty’s. Launching new to the market are their training kits, similar to TRX trainers, these are perfect for when you need to workout without a gym.

Sunglasses: it’s a Sunday, Somewhere state of mind

Question: How many pairs of sunglasses is it acceptable to own? I may have over-accessorised in this department but let’s face it, you can never have too many right? Sunday Somewhere

Being introduced to a new brand is always exciting and with sunglasses, there are just so many choices out there. I have fallen head over heels for the new Sunday Somewhere brand in Magrabi, Bloomingdales, whose frames have been worn the world over by the likes of; Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Ruby Rose, Gigi Hadid, Beyonce & Solange as well as Cara D and a lot of Victoria Secret models, so we’re definitely in great company!

Sunday Somewhere is very much my kind of brand, it’s for the avid traveller, the person who just can’t sit still. The idea behind the brand is that it’s a Sunday, somewhere state of mind – so there’ll always be time to rest, but for now – head to the airport and play travel roulette. Pick a city you’ve never been to and simply explore. The next holiday is your story to tell…

Ray-Ban: Eye Candy Redefined

If we think about it… accessories are much more than just eye candy, they are adornments of culture, individuality and status (anthropologically speaking). But more than that, they help us to defy authority and regiment by interjecting elements of our personality outwardly.

I can try to rationalise why I have 400,000… earrings, rings, necklaces at home, but really, we buy accessories because they make people notice that little extra bit of effort you put in, that little added detail. Out of all my hoarding, i’ve got a real penchant for sunglasses, they frame the face and automatically make people (me) more attractive I think.

Which is why Luxottica’s press day at the gorgeous Culinary Boutique hotspot on Beachroad had me wishing I had more heads to wear them all on! Ray-Ban is a brand in particular I feel suits my lifestyle well. There’s an element of heritage, style and yet we’re not dealing with full on face-furniture 😉

Timeless style, authenticity and freedom of expression from its debut in 1937, I think their pieces are particularly perfect for the beach – bar scenario which is most of my weekends at the moment. Here’s my favourite pieces from the Ray-Ban at Luxottica round up: RayBan at Luxottica

🕶 Throwing Shade with Glassing Sunglasses 🕶

I’m a big sunglass-aholic… literally drawers full, but as much as I love all shapes and sizes, there’s only ever one pair in my handbag at any one time and these Italian imports have made quite an impact. Glassing

Born in 2010 by two LOVELY designers Alessandro Forte and Stefano Ottone, they opened a vintage store in Ibiza and escalated their entrepreneurship to creating and producing ‘Glassing‘ – their own brand, after an adventurous summer on the white isle. It quickly emerged as one of Italy’s most cutting edge brands, focusing on using innovative materials, often combined in unusual ways. Alessandro Forte and Stefano Ottone

With four flagship stores in Italy; in Milan, Portofino, Taormina and Capri, they have now brought their famous frames to Dubai and I have fully jumped on their beachside band wagon (they are currently retailing in a bright yellow pop-up container down at The Beach Dubai). Fans include Kate Moss, Justin Bieber, Beyonce and Jay-Z, P. Diddy, Cristiano Ronaldo and Anna Dello Russo to name but a few. Anna Dello Russo

They have tons of designs but these are my Top 5 Frames: GLASSING ADF MENTALIST BLUE QUARTER GLASSING GP1 GOLD GLASSING HALFNAKED TANGO BLACK FRONT GLASSING WEARE TONY HAVANA FRONT GLASSING GP3 GOLDISSIMO
