Elena Makri Mykonos Swimwear

Grecian resort wear inspired by the myths of Mykonos that’s too good to get wet… almost. Elena Makri Mykonos swimwear and resortwear has officially landed in the Middle East and is exclusive to our favourite shopping hotspot, Harvey Nichols – Dubai.

Whilst Mykonos is a more familiar island, it’s actually Delos that originally caught the attention of designer and former editor-in-chief of Vogue Greece, Elena Makri. Delos is located just a few miles away from the more cosmopolitan Mykonos, near the centre of the Cyclades archipelago and is one of the most important, archeologically speaking, in Greece.

Ancient Greece and its mythological narratives are seeing a real revival through films such as Wonder Woman, brands like Ancient Greek Sandals, and there are plenty more treasures of the glory of the Greek civilisation, to be revealed in the Aegean Sea. Elena Makri, as a designer and habitant, is drawn to the legends of the land; the beauty of its artistry and the simplistic luxury of the fashions of this age old world.

Her collection draws on the almost modern expertise and craftsmanship displayed in the ancient murals and statues, ensuring each of her pieces are handcrafted and organic,  paying real attention to the functionality of the finer details, such as gilded broaches and necklaces, to ensure the the adornments are perfectly capable of being worn over and over again.

What will you be wearing in Mykonos this summer?

Swimming in Rose Gold

I believe a good fitting swimsuit is worth its weight in gold…

This is the kind of swimwear you instantly see yourself lounging around a pool in, somewhere exotic, like St. Barth’s for example. It’s swimwear that will definitely get you noticed and for all the right reasons too. Norma Swimwear

Norma Swimwear was launched by entrepreneur Merve Kardes, in 2014 in Istanbul. Her partner Cemre Kardes Inan, who studied interior design, joined the team and added a very characteristic architectural perspective to their unique designs. Not only are their pieces extraordinarily intricate, they are also beyond comfy. Norma Swimwear

They describe themselves as avant-garde yet wearable. I couldn’t agree more as I put their beautiful ‘La Favourite’ one piece to the test behind the boat wake-surfing last weekend too. Using Italian fabrics and certified rose gold accessories in their designs, the swimwear doesn’t warp or elongate (my personal worst), it’s also proved to be able to endure repeated exposure to sunlight, salt water and chlorine and the only care you’ll need to take is to hand wash it, like with most luxe garments.

Check out some of my personal favourites here:

Artemia Blue €296

Dorina I Navy Blue €268

Eurilla High Grey & Salmon €275

Eurilla High Red €275

Miladolina Salmon €286

La Favorite Black €288

Selinda Blue €286

In love with… SAPIA•KANG

There’s nothing I love more than beautiful resort wear. I work hard to try and ensure that my body looks half way decent in it, so it makes sense to reward those efforts occasionally and right on time… along came SAPIA•KANG.

Sapia Kang

It’s the brainchild of founders Sapia Simone and Ellen Kang who met in Dubai and started working together back in June. The brand is a true result of their explorations and adventures, living this sunny expat lifestyle that we all share and love.

SAPIA•KANG
